"Have the unbelievers not ever considered that the heavens and the earth were one piece, and that We tore them apart from one another?" (Quran, 21:30)

"It is He who created the night and the day, the sun and the moon, each swimming in an orbit." (Quran, 21:33)
The Arabic word used here — "yasbaḥūn" — is particularly significant. In its general sense, it means to move or swim through a medium with one's own self-generated motion. Furthermore, when applied to celestial bodies, it describes objects that travel in their own defined paths under their own motion — which is precisely how modern astronomy describes the orbits of planets, moons, and stars.
At the time of this revelation, the dominant view in human civilisation was that the earth was the fixed centre of the universe and that the sun moved around it. Yet the Quran described the sun as moving in its own orbit — a concept that would not be scientifically established for over a thousand years. Consequently, this verse is widely regarded as one of the most precise scientific statements in any ancient text.

This verse describes multiple layers of darkness in the deep ocean — internal waves beneath the surface, external waves at the surface, and clouds above. Furthermore, it describes the complete absence of light in the depths of the ocean.
Modern oceanography has confirmed that at depths below 200 metres, virtually no sunlight penetrates. Furthermore, scientists have discovered that internal waves — waves beneath the ocean surface — exist exactly as the Quran describes. At the time of revelation, no human being had the ability to descend to such depths and observe this phenomenon. Yet the Quran described it with extraordinary precision.
